The Government Finally Admits It: "Peasant Food" Is Killing You

Trending: 2026 Dietary Guidelines Update

For decades, we’ve been told to fear fat, prioritize grains, and trust the food pyramid. The result? A nation that is overfed, undernourished, and sicker than ever. But in a historic turn of events this week, the narrative finally cracked.

The new 2026 Dietary Guidelines, spearheaded by RFK Jr., have officially declared war on ultra-processed foods. The new recommendation? “Eat Real Food.” They are calling for an inverted food pyramid that prioritizes proteins and healthy fats while pushing processed grains to the bottom [1].

Sound familiar? It should.

If you’ve read The SuperNatural Lifestyle, you know I’ve been shouting this from the rooftops for years. The government is finally catching up to the biological truth: We are digging our graves with our teeth, one meal at a time.

The "Peasant Food" Epidemic

In Chapter 2 of my book, I classify food into two simple categories: Whole Foods and what I call "Peasant Food" (or fillers).

Fillers—like breads, pastas, and processed junk—were created to keep populations alive cheaply, not to make them thrive. The new 2026 federal guidelines now admit that ultra-processed foods are driving chronic disease and childhood obesity [2].

You don't need a politician to tell you what to eat. You need to understand your own biology. While the new guidelines are a great start, they are still missing the most critical piece of the puzzle—the "Golden Rule" that separates average results from a supernatural physique.

Rule #1: Eat Whole Foods (The Foundation)

This is where the new guidelines got it right. My definition of a Whole Food is simple: Anything you can hunt or gather in nature. That’s it.

If it comes in a box with a barcode and a list of ingredients you can’t pronounce, it’s a food product, not food. Whole foods provide the nutrient density required to reach homeostasis—the state where your body functions at peak performance. You cannot build a high-performance machine on low-grade fuel.

Rule #2: The Rule They Still Won't Tell You

The government says "eat less sugar" and "eat healthy fats." That’s good advice, but it’s incomplete. The secret isn't just what you eat—it’s how you combine it.

In Chapter 2, I introduce the principle that changes everything: DO NOT MIX SUGARS AND FATS.

Here is the science the news isn't covering:

  • Your body burns carbs (Glycolysis) or fats (Beta-Oxidation) for energy.
  • When you eat them together (think donuts, pizza, or a burger with a bun), your body releases insulin to handle the sugar.
  • Insulin stops fat burning immediately.
  • Since your body is busy burning the sugar, that fat you just ate gets stored directly on your waistline.

This is why "balanced" meals often fail. To get shredded and stay healthy, you must eat Fats with Protein OR Carbs with Protein—never both at once.

Rule #3: Time Your Nutrient Intake

The new federal guidelines suggest increasing protein intake to 1.2–1.6g per kg of body weight. I have been advocating for high protein intake for over a decade. But again, timing is everything.

You wouldn't fill your car's gas tank after a cross-country road trip, would you? Food is fuel. You need to eat specific nutrients at specific times based on what your body is doing.

  • Morning & Pre-Workout: Eat Carbs/Sugars to fuel the machine.
  • Evening & Rest: Eat Fats and Proteins to repair tissue and keep insulin low while you sleep.

This isn't a diet. Diets have an expiration date. This is a system.

Stop Waiting for Permission to Be Healthy

It took the US government 50 years to admit that the food pyramid was upside down. Do not wait another 50 years for them to figure out the rest.

The "Ozempic Rebound" is real because drugs treat the symptom, not the root cause. The SuperNatural Lifestyle fixes the machine itself. By feeding your body the right fuel at the right time, you flip the switch from Catabolic (breaking down) to Anabolic (building and thriving).

If you are tired of the confusion, the brain fog, and the mediocrity, it’s time to go back to the basics of human biology.
